iPhone 15 Pro Max: Everything you need to know about Apple’s 2023 flagship
The Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max is finally out and will be available in stores from September 22. Lot of Bloggers have got their hand on the new phone and some them have even made unboxing videos. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is lighter, quicker, and more titanium than ever before. Its most notable new features include a 5x optical telephoto lens, USB-C with speeds up to 10 Gps, and a reduced weight due to a smaller, titanium housing. When it goes on sale on September 15, it will cost $1,199/£1,199 for 256GB.
iPhone 15 Pro Max: Price and release date
Preorders for the iPhone 15 Pro Max begin on September 15, with retailers opening on September 22.
Prices begin at $1,199/£1,199, a $100 increase over the iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, it includes 256GB of storage, whereas the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s base model was 128GB (the 256GB version was $1,199/£1,199). In other words, it’s not so much a price hike as Apple simply dropping the most affordable choice.
If you live in the United Kingdom, the pricing is even better than 2022’s iPhone 14, with a price cut across the board.

iPhone 15 Pro Max: Design
Both new iPhone 15 Pro variants have a new titanium body connected to an internal aluminium frame. The display is still 6.7 inches, as with the iPhone 14 Pro Max, but with a narrower border around it, resulting in a somewhat smaller phone body (only a millimetre or two). As a result, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is the lightest “Max” model to date. It weighs 7.81 ounces, which is nearly 10% less than the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
It is available in four different finishes: black titanium, white titanium, blue titanium, and natural titanium. The titanium has a new matte, brush texture and is paired with an aluminium internal frame that increases thermal dissipation and back glass repairability. Apple also improved the design, making the frame more curved and the display bezels much thinner. The front of the iPhone is still shielded by Apple’s Ceramic Shield material, which the company claims is the hardest glass used in a smartphone. Not iphone 15 pro max pink but iPhone 15 comes in Pink colour (Barbie Fever).
Apple is adopting the same Super Retina XDR Display as last year, featuring Always-On display technology and a refresh rate of 120Hz ProMotion. The resolution of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is 2796×1290, whereas the resolution of the iPhone 15 Pro is 2556×1179. Aside from the slimmer bezels, there are no changes to the display, and it still has the same Dynamic Island at the top.
Instead of a Lightning port, the iPhone 15 Pro models use a USB-C port with USB 3 transfer speeds of up to 10Gb/s. Charging is now done with a USB-C cable, so you can charge the iPhone, iPad, and Mac with the same cord. An iPhone may charge AirPods or an Apple Watch straight via the USB-C connector. 15W MagSafe charging is still accessible, and Apple has introduced Qi2 wireless charging capability.
A customisable Action button replaces the mute switch and is modelled after the Action button on the Apple Watch Ultra. It can be customised to perform a variety of tasks, like launching the camera, turning on the Flashlight, recording a Voice Memo, or activating a Shortcut. The Action button interacts with the Dynamic Island to provide visual feedback in addition to tactile feedback.
An enhanced 48-megapixel Main camera provides increased low-light performance as well as a new 24-megapixel default image resolution that provides high-quality images at a manageable file size, an improvement over the previous 12-megapixel default. The focal length of the main camera can be set to 24mm, 28mm, and 35mm, and there is an option to shoot 48-megapixel HEIF photos that take up less space than RAW images.
Portrait images are now recorded automatically anytime a human or pet enters the frame or you tap to focus, allowing you to alter depth and focal point even if you don’t pick portrait mode. Sharper detail, more vibrant colours, and improved low-light performance are all features of the images. When viewed in the Photos app, Night mode is sharper than before, and Smart HDR 5 captures subjects and backgrounds with more true-to-life skin tones and brighter highlights, richer midtones, and deeper shadows.
A new Ultrawide camera that lets in more light is available. The iPhone 15 Pro comes with a normal 3x Telephoto lens, however the iPhone 15 Pro Max comes with an updated 5x Telephoto lens with a new tetraprism design. For sharper photographs, Apple unveiled a new optical image stabilisation system that comprises an autofocus 3D sensor-shift module.
Apple’s first 3-nanometer chip, constructed on an upgraded node, is the A17 Pro. According to Apple, it boasts the largest GPU revamp in Apple history, with GPU performance up to 20% quicker than the A16. CPU performance has increased by up to 10%. The new Neural Engine is up to twice as fast.
Apple was able to integrate hardware-accelerated ray tracing with the 6-core GPU, allowing the iPhone to run console games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Resident Evil 4 for the first time, as well as improve augmented reality apps. For more efficient video streaming, there is a specialised AV1 decoder. The A17 Pro powers a feature that connects the iPhone to external storage and records 4K 60fps ProRes video directly to the storage device. To go along with this functionality, Apple has included a Log encoding option, making the iPhone 15 Pro models the first handsets to support the Academy Colour Encoding System, which is used by filmmakers.
Later this year, the iPhone 15 Pro models will be able to record 3D spatial video, which will be seen on the Apple Vision Pro, which will be released next year.
iPhone 15 Pro Max with 5x telephoto lens
Aside from its visibly larger size, the new 5x optical telephoto lens is the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s distinguishing feature. Apple employs a new “tetra prism” periscope lens to provide optical zoom comparable to 120mm focal length, a significant improvement over the iPhone 15 Pro’s 3x/77mm telephoto camera.
Other features of the iPhone 15 Pro Max
The iPhone 15 Pro Max has the same characteristics as the iPhone 15 Pro, with the exception of the enhanced magnification for the telephoto lens and the evident larger size.

Apple included a second-generation Ultra Wideband technology, which allows two iPhones equipped with the chip to connect at a 3x greater distance. The increased connectivity enables a new Precision Finding for Find My Friends function, which uses Precision Finding to help you find your friends in congested settings. When coupled with a Wi-Fi 6E router, you can get up to 2x faster Wi-Fi speeds and access to 6GHz channels. Thread support has also been introduced for future Home app connections.
Emergency SOS by Satellite is being expanded to include Emergency Roadside Assistance via Satellite, so if you have a car problem in a location where there is no cellular or WiFi signal, you can utilise satellite services to contact AAA, Apple’s partner in the venture.
