Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has clarified his intentions to run for President of the United States.

The actor told CBS’ “Sunday Morning” that he has decided not to run for politics because he wants to focus his duty as a father.

“It’s not on the table.” Yes, it is off the table,” he stated in a teaser from his upcoming interview with the morning talk show when asked about running for president.

“I’ll say this because it requires a B-side.” “I adore our country and everyone who lives in it,” he added. “I also enjoy being a father. And being a daddy is the most essential thing to me, especially at this key juncture in my kids’ lives.”

“I knew what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was away for many years in my first daughter’s life,” Johnson continued. Growing up at this vital juncture in their lives, and that is what the presidency will do. So my daughters are my top priority.”

One poll from 2021 revealed that 58% of Americans would have hoped to see Johnson as the next President of the United States. In the same poll, 58% of respondents stated they would back actor Matthew McConaughey.

Last year, the 50-year-old produced and starred in two blockbuster films, “Jungle Cruise” and “Red Notice,” premiered his sitcom “Young Rock,” saw exceptional growth for his firm Teremana Tequila, and became the most followed American guy on Instagram.

With his ex-wife, Dany Garcia, he has a 21-year-old daughter named Simone Garcia Johnson. He also has two daughters, Jasmine, 6, and Tiana, 4, whom he shares with his wife, Lauren Hashian.

The action actor first indicated interest in running for president in 2017, telling Variety that he would “100% consider” running.

According to a Pipslay poll, nearly half of Americans (46% of 30,000 individuals polled) would welcome the former wrestling superstar into the White House.

In a February 2021 USA Today report, the Hollywood box office king stated that his political destiny would be “up to the people.”

“I would contemplate running for president in the future if the people desired it,” Johnson told the site. “I truly mean that, and my response is not in any way frivolous.” That is up to the people… So I decided to wait and listen. I’d keep my finger on the pulse and my ear on the ground.”

Johnson will appear in the DC superhero film “Black Adam,” which will be released in theatres on October 21.

The actor claims he does not want to be apart from his family because of the rigours of a political career.

“Sure, CEO sounds fantastic!” Johnson makes a point. “But the most important thing I want to be is a father. That’s all.”

Johnson’s interview will run on the CBS Television Network and stream on Paramount+ on Sunday, October 9 at 9:00 a.m. ET. The Black Adam star is also anticipated to speak extensively about his part in the DC Comics picture, which will be released on October 21, as well as his childhood, life as a pro wrestler, and what inspires him now.

ET spoke with Johnson on the Comic-Con red carpet in July, and he admitted that bringing his superhero persona to the iconic San Diego convention was a “20-year goal” of his.

“”Coming back here to Comic-Con, Hall H, the dream has always been to represent a superhero,” Johnson remarked sincerely. I grew up in DC and am still a DC child as an adult.”

Black Adam is the first feature film to tell the origin tale of this DC superhero. The picture follows Adam roughly 5,000 years after he was granted with the enormous abilities of the ancient gods — and imprisoned just as fast — when Black Adam (Johnson) is released from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his particular form of power.
