After months of massive gaming delays, one new horror FPS is breaking the mould by launching a full week ahead of schedule.

Scorn, the twisted shooter that was revealed two years ago and again during Summer Game Fest, will be released on Friday, October 14. You’ll be able to enter its dark world of biomechanical abominations seven days sooner than expected.

Ebb Software hasn’t given a reason for the delay, but it has released a (suitably spooky) new teaser announcing the adjustment, which you can see below. Scorn will be available on Xbox Game Pass on launch day and will be exclusive to the Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Tempo change

The Xbox console exclusive is inspired by H. R. Giger’s biomechanical imagery (well known as the graphic designer for Ridley Scott’s Alien) and Zdzisaw Beksiski’s gothic surrealism (who painted a lot of horrifyingly creepy skeleton art that occasionally pops up across the internet). There will be plenty of organic-looking structures and sinewy firearms. Everything is dreadful.

Fans have been anticipating the arrival of Scorn for quite some time. The game began as a Kickstarter project in 2017 and was originally scheduled to be released the following year. After that year, it was pushed back to 2021, before being pushed back again to this year. Ebb Software appears to be sure that another delay will not occur.

Scorn promises to pick up players “into a bizarre, secluded, dream-like environment Players must explore Scorn’s interconnected bio-labyrinth on their own, learning its laws and conquering horrific riddles as they come to grasp their own plight.”

We recently went hands-on with the first hour of the game, noting, “Scorn, at its best, feels like a genuinely strange, really serious approach to more open puzzling, perhaps most easily related to The Witness. Personally, I’d want to see more of that, but if you’re seeking for a dose of genuine ugliness, it appears to have you covered there as well.”

Here’s what publisher Kepler had to say about it all:
Ebb Software and Kepler Interactive are excited to introduce you to their next horror experience one week earlier than scheduled. Originally scheduled for October 21, gamers will now be able to immerse themselves in Scorn’s nightmare hellscape beginning October 14, 2022.

Scorn immerses players in an isolated, bizarre, dream-like realm. Players must explore Scorn’s interconnected bio-labyrinth on their own, learning its laws and overcoming macabre riddles along the way as they come to comprehend their own predicament.

Surviving may be conceivable if secrets are discovered and odd bio-mechanical instruments that appear to have been used by the civilisation that once called this world home are collected. Finding the truth, on the other hand, is a quite different matter.
The game is now available to pre-load through Game Pass (we have it ready to go), and our review is in the works, so stay tuned. Let’s see how all can dare to play the game!!!!
