Despite rumours of cancellation, a new datamine provides us with another glimpse at the MW2 Grand Prix multiplayer layout.

The Modern Warfare 2 Beta has concluded, and we’re already looking back warmly on our time with Infinity Ward’s next shooter. However, one map was noticeably absent from the game’s trial.

Even though Activision revealed the Grand Prix map shortly after the release of MW2, the racing-themed arena was noticeably absent. All official mentions of the Grand Prix map have also been removed from Call of Duty’s blog articles and social media in recent weeks.

Images of Grand Prix Maps Revealed in New Modern Warfare 2 Datamine
New screenshots from the MW2 Beta UI and loading screens showed off areas of the Grand Prix map in all their glory. Despite the lack of real-world branding, the MW2 map clearly depicts the Singapore Grand Prix on Marina Bay.

This Grand Prix is an actual event taking place this Sunday, October 2, which could explain why the map was delayed.

Image initially revealed and removed by Activision

It’s certainly plausible that Activision (or the FIA) was concerned about the consequences of turning the track into a shootout immediately before the Singapore GP. Alternatively, the map could be revealed again at the official event.

The map appears to depict the racing track’s starting grid, with vehicles actively driving around it. Furthermore, players can enter the pit garages and, it appears, even further into the track’s back rooms and neighbouring locations.

Activision revealed the image and erased it.

The map appears to be an illustration of the race track’s starting line, as well as the train driver driving around the map. Backrooms are accessible to players in the pits, across the rails, and in the surrounding surroundings.

As best as we can tell, the fresh photos can be found in the tweet below:

Grand Prix + Loading Images are displayed in the UI choices. (posting in case the map is cut or severely altered) https://t.co/cxZVALzcx7.

Although we are unable to publish the new photographs here, they are all available in the tweet below:

We’d like to thank Earthbound Fan for sharing this datamine with us. We can only hope that the Grand Prix map will be available on the release date of Modern Warfare 2.

A number of significant upgrades and fixes that players have been requesting since the Beta went live will also be available at launch. Here is a list of all the confirmed fixes for MW2 on release day.
