Apple has issued a comprehensive set of updates for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS to guarantee customers can keep current without upgrading to iOS 16 or purchasing newer supported items.

In addition to iOS 16, which was released on Monday, Apple also issued major operating system updates for its 2021 models. These updates have a dual purpose: they deliver fixes to devices that are unable to update to the new operating systems and they provide users with a needed update without asking them to switch to a new operating system.

iOS 15.7, iPadOS 15.7, macOS Big Sur 11.7, and macOS Monterey 12.6 were all released by Apple. There were no explicit release notes offered, however given that they were released alongside iOS 16, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16, it appears that these updates are intended to keep older devices up to date.

While a new operating system version might be exciting for many users, others are concerned that it would disrupt compatibility with important programmes used in their career or hobby. Some people wait months or even years before updating to guarantee that the apps they use receive frequent upgrades and are optimised for compatibility without data loss.

Users who are waiting for updates or who are unable to upgrade still require essential security patches and bug fixes. As a result, Apple often distributes interim upgrades to older computers. Update cycles for older operating systems often last months, but updates continue to arrive for years after newer products have been phased out.

This upgrade guide will tell you what hardware is required to run the new operating systems.

The Settings app can be used to make updates. Navigate to General, then Software Update to install the updated operating system version. As appropriate, an option for new and old operating system upgrades should be visible.

When the update is released, a helpful support article on Apple’s website will be updated to reflect the availability of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 features.

HomeKit Secure Video, for example, may require a premium iCloud plan to function.

You will also be unable to access iOS 15 features such as embedded Siri unless you purchase a compatible smart home appliance. Additionally, Siri can only announce time-sensitive notifications on the second-generation AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max.

Device requirements for features such as attaching actual keys to the Wallet app may differ depending on the hotel or workplace. Furthermore, a number of features will not be deployed until after iOS 15 is released to the public later in 2022.

Apple similarly did this for a few months after the release of iOS 15, releasing version 14.8 to supported devices so that customers may postpone the update without danger. By January 2022, Apple had stopped updating iOS 14 and directed all iOS users to update to version 15.2.1.
